Nĭhăo !
" N走h見o " is probably one of the first few Chinese
phrases that you would hear on most occasions. No other Chinese
greetings seem as frequently used as " n走h見o " which, hands
down, is no less than a perfect do-it-all greeting in Chinese. If
there's anything you would ever need to learn in Chinese, this
is it.

Have you eaten ?
" Have you eaten? " Don't be
surprised when you hear this, you
are being greeted, in however
perfect English, by a native Chi-nese
speaker you may have met. this is
how it began. The ancient Chinese
believed that " food is the mandate
of heaven "( as hunger breeds
discontent ) and these words are
their concern about their folks. "
Have you eaten " ( N走 ch貝le ma ) is
now more of a casual greeting than
an invitation to dinner. |
